Welcome to the Sacred Leadership blog!
January 6th, 2007 by jdavis
Thank you for participating in the Sacred Leadership blog discussion.
The world is at a crucial turning point for humankind. If we are to thrive and prosper we must focus our attention on the ways in which we can agree and cooperate rather than in a competitive mode in which we focus on the areas in which we disagree and are different.
I have traveled in North and South America, Europe and Africa and my experiences in these diverse places reinforces my deepest belief that our commonalities far outweigh our differences. All of the people I have met want to live in peace, provide a healthy and prosperous life for themselves and their families and live a life of meaning.
Sacred Leadership recognizes our commonalities. Sacred Leadership serves the “common good” and a greater purpose. Examples include nurturing and educating the young, providing for the sick and protecting the vulnerable. I am sure you can think of many more examples. There is a more thorough discussion of Sacred Leadership within this web site.
Through this blog I will try to clarify Sacred Leadership through examples that occur in daily life as well as by sharing my personal reflections as we further develop the concepts of Sacred Leadership in practice.
In the end, we hope to encourage dialogue about leadership, first in the United States, and then globally. A dialgoue that leads to a demand for leadership that serves the “common good”; that is based on positive values such as trust, respect, integrity and compassion, and that focuses on the long term while recognizing our short term needs.
Please join us in our journey to bring Sacred Leadership into the world.

Congratulations on this site. A hearty ‘Here, here’ to its keen objectives. It is thrilling to see this space take shape and know great things are afoot! We are truly fortunate to participate at this formative stage. May many brillant minds and brave hearts all over the globe both contribute and be well served herein.
What a pleasure to read these instructive and inspiring stories. They give me a new way to look at my own practice of leadership as I help develop new eductional leaders.
I look forward to reading the next stories (and lessons.)
Jim, I am discouraged by existing leadership in our world at this time, and long for the days of the greats like Ghandi or King, whose obvious missions were for “the common good,” as you profess. It seems that men and women who truly serve are too busy doing so to seek public recognition or leadership roles in our society. Instead, those who call themselves leaders are driven by greed or individual power. I am inspired by your search for sacred leadership, and hope that it can make a difference for us all. I had the good fortune of working closely with you as you served as a leader, and I know that you practice what you preach!
Jim, I was so excited to receive your letter announcing this website that I could not wait to check it out. This is a good thing you are doing and I wish you luck. I have learned alot from you, Clint, and Cecilia that I am trying to put into practice the tools that you have given me.
I am happy to find your thoughtful blog. I recently started a blog called Spirit of Institutions (http://spiritofinstitutions.blogspot.com), and I’m doing interviews with people that are seen as spiritually-grounded leaders. Your blog covers many topics that are important to me. Thank you!
Michael,
Thank you for your response. It is important that we all work together to raise the spiritual conscience of the planet. Especially, those who are in leadership positions.
